Misbawu Abubakari is the Acting Director of Programs and Projects of Youth Without Borders Ghana, responsible for the planning and implementation of programmes, projects, and special initiatives. He also holds the position of Regional Coordinator for Ashanti Region, where he oversees the activities and programme implementation in the region.
Mr Abubakari holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) in Information Technology Education from the Akenten Appiah-Menka University of Skills Training and Entrepreneurial Development (AAMUSTED), Kumasi Ghana. He also holds a Diploma in Basic Education from Gbewaa College of Education, Pusiga in the Upper East Region (UER) of Ghana as well as Diploma in Cyber Law from Athena Global Education. Misbawu has undertaken several certificate courses in IT including Certificate in Java, Certificate in JavaScript and PHP Programming, Certificate in Python Programming from Udemy and Certificate of Virtual Assistance from ALX Africa.
Misbawu is a Distinguished Youth Leader, a Tech-Savvy and Facilitator with a decade of experience teaching Information Technology related courses at the . Currently, he works as a Tutor at Shining Scholars Montessori, where he teaches ICT related subjects. With a strong background in IT, Misbawu has developed and implemented hands-on activities to promote student learning and understanding. As a teacher, Misbawu has mentored students on academic and personal matters, fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
In addition to teaching, Misbawu is a servant leader with experience in various leadership positions. While at AAMUSTED, Misbawu served as Chairman of the Amalgamated Clubs and Societies (SRC), Member of the Legislative Assembly (L.A.), Secretary to the Audit Committee of TESCON and a Ranking Member of the Privilege Committee of Students’ Parliament. While serving as the Deputy Organiser of GMSA, he dedicated himself, together with a team of student leaders, to promoting student interests and welfare. Misbawu coordinated various student activities, events, and programs while developing initiatives to enhance student engagement and community building.
One of Misbawu’s most notable achievements is pioneering Kiddo Code Camp, a coding club for kids that introduces them to the foundation of programming and coding concepts. Through Kiddo Code Camp, Misbawu has designed and delivered engaging coding lessons and activities for young learners, fostering a community of young coders and encouraging them to explore their creativity and problem-solving abilities. With a strong passion for youth development and empowerment, Misbawu is committed to making a positive impact on the lives of young people. Through teaching, leadership and community engagement, Misbawu continues to inspire and motivate young people to reach their full potential.
Haruna Tajudeen is the Director of Communication and Public Affairs at Youth Without Borders Ghana, where he leads the organization’s strategic communications, media relations, and advocacy efforts. With a deep commitment to youth empowerment, civic engagement, and peacebuilding, Tajudeen brings over a decade of experience in education, public communication, and community development to the organization’s mission.
Tajudeen is currently pursuing a Master of Arts (M.A) in Conflict, Peace and Security Studies at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Centre (KAIPTC), of the National Defense University, Ghana. His academic work focuses on youth, violent extremism, and conflict transformation, an issue he approaches through both academic research and grassroots engagement. He holds a Master of Arts (M.A) in Communication Studies from the University of Cape Coast (UCC) Ghana. Tajudeen also holds a Bachelor of Education (B.Ed) in English Language from the Valley View University Ghana and a Diploma in Basic Education from the Accra College of Education, Legon Ghana.
Mr. Tajudeen is a Development Communication Expert, Peace, Security and Conflict Analyst and Professional Teacher with over a decade of experience. Currently, he works as a Tutor at Salaga Senior High School in the Savanna Region of Ghana, teaching English Language and English Literature. With the extensive number of years of teaching, Tajudeen has served as a mentor and role model for countless young people, especially his students and the countless youth in the conflict prone Northern region. His experience working in these areas inspired his transition into peace and security studies, combining his teaching, communication, and leadership skills to support youth resilience and inclusive peacebuilding.
Prior to his current role, he worked as a Teacher at Kpandai Hulafau Junior High School in the Northern Region of Ghana. With his expertise in development communication and his desire to ensure that local population stay informed, he volunteered with Magyk FM as a Good Morning Show producer. Haruna has gathered broad based experience in youth empowerment, civic engagement and community development services. As a result, he has actively contributed to several civic and policy-oriented organizations including Youth Empowerment Consortium, Honour Ghana, Ceciyaa Foundation, Institute for Liberty and Policy Innovation (ILAPI). He is the Founder and Executive Director to Taadini Rural Development Foundation (Tard), a community based non-profit organisation which focuses on amplifying youth voices, promoting democratic values, and fostering sustainable peace through communication, education, and strategic advocacy.
Ama Frimpomaa Oware is the Deputy Executive Director of Youth Without Borders Ghana. Previously, she held the role of Head of Gender, Social Inclusion, and Health Promotion, where she drove strategic organizational change, influenced policy reforms, and promoted socially responsible programs that empowered marginalized communities through social accountability and advocacy for gender equity, including measures aimed at empowering young girls.
Ama is a distinguished youth leader and gender expert with over a decade of experience in social work and gender analysis. Presently, she works as a Facilitator and Girl Child Coordinator at St. Monica's Girls Senior High School in the Ashanti Region, where she oversees programs and projects that support the integration of Gender Equality and Social Inclusion (GESI) framework in girls’ education and development.
Prior to her current role, she worked as a Teaching Fellow at Lead for Ghana, where she taught students in underserved communities within the Tamale Metropolitan Assembly area. She began he career as a Graduate Assistant at the Centre for Gender Studies and Advocacy of the University of Ghana (UG). As a bilingual with a C1 European Language Portfolio Certification in Turkish, Ama's linguistic proficiency enhances her ability to engage with diverse communities and foster global partnerships, further amplifying her impact in promoting diversity, inclusion, social justice and change.
Ms. Oware has extensive experience in youth leadership, girl child advocacy and community engagement. She firmly believes that with an enabling environment and purposeful mentoring, every girl can thrive. This believe made her to found the Empower One Mentorship Initiative, a skill-based mentoring program aims to support young girls aged 10-16 years from resource-constrained communities and families with mentorship, training, and networking opportunities, focusing on developing leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills needed to succeed. She is the Inaugural Female President of the Leadership Network of the Lead for Ghana Organization, spearheading actionable initiatives that foster collective action for Ghana’s growth among over 200 alumni. Through this role, she has gained valuable experience in educational leadership and community development.
Ama's career has been marked by prestigious fellowships and recognitions that have honed her leadership and expertise. She is a 2024 Women Change Makers for Education Fellow, recognized for her contribution to empowering young girl from under-privileged communities. In 2019, received Turkish Government Scholarship to study for master’s degree in Turkey. In 2019, she was selected as a TALMA Fellow, an Israel Program for Excellence in English where she developed professional growth and skills through a geographic and socioeconomic periphery integration in addressing educational inequality. She also became a Fellow of the Schusterman Family Foundation's Reality Revolve Fellowship, which provided her a platform to engage in innovative problem-solving and social impact initiatives. In 2016, Ama was selected as a Fellow of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALİ), Regional Leadership Centre (RLC) West Africa awarded by the US Department of State.
Ama Frimpomaa Oware holds a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Sociology from Mersin University, Turkey, and a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Social Work with Sociology from the University of Ghana (UG), Legon. She obtained a Certificate in Sexual Harassment Prevention and Training for Secondary Education from the Ghana National Teaching Council, a Certificate in Peer Counselling Training from the Counselling and Placement Center at the University of Ghana, and a Certificate in Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) from DalMort Consulting Limited.
Samuel Gariba is the Executive Director (ED) of Youth Without Borders Ghana and a member of the Board of Directors. Previously, he served as the Director of Programs and Projects responsible for the planning and implementation of programmes, projects, and special initiatives. This was after he had served as the Regional Coordinator for Ashanti Region, where he oversaw the activities and programme implementation in the region.
Gariba holds a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) in Historical Studies and Bachelor of Arts (BA) in History both from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Ghana. He also has a Certificate of Merit in Digital Marketing from Ghana India Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in ICT and a host of capacity-based training certificates in research, governance, policy and youth work.
Gariba has over 12 years of youth leadership experience, cross-cutting training young people in governance, research, policy, advocacy, youth activism, community engagement, academic and career development, among others. As a Project Officer for Centre for the Development of People (CEDEP) between 2013 and 2017, he co-developed training curriculum used to train young people, assembly members, unit committee members, trade associations, political party actors and other actors of local governance in public financial management cycle, capital project implementation and monitoring. He played lead roles in the implementation of government’s Social Public Expenditure and Financial Accountability under the auspices of the World Bank, as well as Ghana’s Strengthening Accountability Mechanisms (GSAM) and Reacting to Early Warnings and Response Data in West Africa (REWARD), both funded by USAID. The impact of his training activities was applauded by a joint evaluation by the National Peace Council and the University of Massachusetts’ Department of African Studies in 2016 as having contributed to youth participation in capital projects implementation, improved equitable service delivery and the mitigation of election violence in the identified hotspots in the Ashanti Region. This was concluded from his training of two thousand and two hundred (2,200) local governance actors and approximately one thousand two hundred and fifty (1,250) young people in project initiation, budgeting and contracting, execution and monitoring and evaluation.
Between 2019 and 2022, he was a member of the Thematic Working Groups of the Technical Committee that formulated the National Youth Policy 2022. He is currently leading the Governance and Leadership Committee of West African Youth Alliance, which is championing the adoption of West African Youth Parliament as part of the ECOWAS Treaty.
Gariba has played consulting roles for Global Media Foundation under the “Rights4Cocoa: Protecting Children’s Rights in Ghana’s Cocoa Sector Project”; ActionAid Global Platforms (MS TC DC Tanzania) under ToT in Political Facilitation Programme, University of South Denmark under the Global Health Programme and Beyond the Pivot (Hong Kong University) under the Go to Africa Summer Volunteer Programme. He has also conducted varied research in governance, education, social protection, as well as youth and child development for UNICEF, UNFPA, UNDP, IMANI Centre for Policy and Education, Oxfam in Ghana, Innovations for Poverty Action, Education Watch Ghana, Defence for Children, Kanko and Associates, PPAG, SNV Ghana, STAR Ghana, among others.
Angela Asante is the Director of Human Resources and Administration of Youth Without Borders Ghana, responsible for overseeing the day-to-day general administration, human resources, welfare, and management issues of the organization. Previously, she served as the Head of Projects within the directorate of programs and projects where she oversaw the successful execution of projects and initiatives of the organisation.
Angela is an Urban Planner by Profession and has over 8 years’ experience in urban planning, public health, and social science research. She is also a youth and community development advocate. Presently, she is the Head of the Operations Unit of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA) in the Ashanti Region. In her current role, she is responsible for the planning and implementation of all modules of the Youth Employment Agency in the Ashanti Region. She coordinates the activities of all the 47 Metropolitan, Municipal, Districts and sub-metros in the Region.
Prior to her current role, Angela worked as a research assistant with the Bureau of Integrated Rural Development. During this period, Angela worked on research and development-oriented projects for international and local organisations. Including the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA), Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development (MLGRD) Mennonite Economic Development Associates (MEDA), USAID, ACDI/VOCA, International Cocoa Initiative (ICI), among others. She has helped develop her leadership, intercultural communications, maintain confidentiality and ability to multi-task proficiently.
Angela is a 2015 Commonwealth Shared Scholar awarded by the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Development Office (FCDO) to study masters’ degree in the UK. As a commonwealth scholarship alumnus, she volunteers as a CSC mentor where she provides commonwealth scholars with advice and support during their studies to help them gain the knowledge and skills required in their chosen field and area of study. Angela has experiences in youth development and advocacy, leadership, community resilience initiatives, democratic governance and accountability, and economic empowerment for young people. She is a 2019 Alumnus of the Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), a US Department of State sponsored leadership programs. She has served as a speaker and panellist for several conferences and seminars. She has been a UN online Volunteer since 2014 and has participated on several projects. She is a Co-founder of Girl-Child Concern Ghana (GCC-Gh) and she has co-led many projects to provide comfortable shoes, sanitary towels and provisions to girls 10 rural communities within the Ashanti Region.
Angela holds a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) degree in Development Planning from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi Ghana and a Master of Science (MSc.) degree in Urban and Regional Planning from the Heriot-Watt University, United Kingdom (UK). She is currently pursuing a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) degree in Health Systems Research and Management at the KNUST. Angela Asante hopes to gain knowledge on the use and management of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) to help better the health system in Ghana. Angela also holds certificates in Disaster preparedness (University of Pittsburgh), Energy Sector Strategies to Support Green Growth (The World Bank Group), Budgeting and Scheduling Projects (University of California, Irvine), Climate Change (University of Melbourne).
Dr. Ephraim Armstrong Awinbugri is the Director of Finance and Sponsorship of Youth Without Borders Ghana. Previously, he held the role of I-Empower Project Coordinator, a flagship leadership and career guidance, mentorship and coaching project that empowered students in second cycle institutions across many regions in Ghana.
Ephraim is a Chartered Accountant, Chartered Financial Analyst and Organisational Development Consultant with over a decade of experience consulting, teaching and researching Auding, Accounting and Finance. Presently, he works as a Senior Lecturer (Part-Time) at the College of Distance and e-Learning of the University of Education, Winneba (UEW), where he teaches various accounting courses including International Business, Business Finance, Advanced Financial Reporting, Auditing and Assurance and Public Sector Accounting. He is also a Managing Partner at Ambitious Consultants and Associates, a Chartered Accountants Firm and an Adjunct Lecturer at Kessben University College, Kumasi Ghana.
Prior to his current roles, he worked as an Accountant at the Agogo Presbyterian College of Education, where he was responsible for preparing the institution’s budgets, presenting financial accounts and managing ledger accounts. Earlier, he was the Director of Finance at Darko Fresh Company, a firm specialised in the production of sachet drinking water.
Dr Awinbugri is a serial Entrepreneur and Author. He is the CEO of Ambitious Clusters LTD, a conglomerate comprising of accounting, manufacturing and travel and tour companies. Ephraim co-authored “Aim Financial Accounting”, a basic accounting textbook for level 100 university students.
Ephraim holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accounting and Finance from ICOF Global University. He also holds a Master of Philosophy (M.Phil.) Business Administration (Accounting Option) from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) Ghana and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) Accounting from the University of Education, Winneba (UEW) Ghana. He obtained a Bachelor of Science (BSc Hons) Business Administration (Accounting Option) with First Class and Diploma in Education both from UEW Ghana. He also has Bachelor of Law (LLB) from the Presbyterian University, Ghana and a Certified Online Facilitator Certificate from the University of Amsterdam, Netherlands. He is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (CA), Chartered Financial Manager(USA) and a Certified Organizational Development Consultant. He is an editor of International Journal of Research and Innovation in Social Sciences and BP International, India. His research interests include corporate governance, accounting standards, SDGs, Green Accounting and Sustainable Practices. Ephraim’s research and journal publication on IFRS adoption and earnings management in Sub-Saharan Africa won him an award at a conference in Nigeria.
